The Shell Beach Brewhouse is one of my favorite hangouts in San Luis Obispo County. It’s a friendly, relaxed place with great food, friendly staff, and industrial chic ambiance. In 2013 the owners fully renovated the aging, formerly dark space with floor-to-ceiling windows and wine-stained barrel staves for paneling. The Brewhouse is now a local hotspot with crowds spilling out the doors on warm nights.
I love the outdoor space with the firepit and cafe lights. Some of my Brewhouse favorites are the potato chip crusted chicken tenders and flash-fried Brussels sprouts. We go to the Brewhouse a lot, since it’s conveniently located just 500 feet from the water in Shell Beach, an easy drive or walk from the nearby hotels. Highway 101 passes right by (so you can easily get back on the road if you’re not staying nearby), but it’s screened from view with dense foliage and an elevation change. If you’re looking for a fun place to have a drink, watch the game, and meet new friends, the Brewhouse is it.
